About Joe and The OSINTion

Joe Gray, a distinguished veteran of the U.S. Navy Submarine Force, whose journey has led him to remarkable achievements in the field of cybersecurity and open-source intelligence (OSINT). Notably, Joe holds the honor of being the first-ever winner of the DerbyCon Social Engineering Capture the Flag (SECTF), a feat that earned him the esteemed DerbyCon Black Badge, symbolizing his mastery in the domain.

At the helm of The OSINTion, Joe serves as the Founder and Principal Instructor, channeling his extensive experience into shaping novel approaches to information gathering. With a solid presence in the Password Inspection Agency, he has consistently excelled in diverse Capture the Flag events, particularly those focused on OSINT.

Joe's accomplishments stand as pillars of his career. He clinched an impressive 2nd Place in the HackFest Quebec Missing Persons CTF and swept victories at DEFCON 28, 29, and 30 as an integral part of The Password Inspection Agency, The Federal Bureau of OH-SHINT, and The Eff Ess Bees, respectively, in the revered TraceLabs OSINT Search Party.

His individual achievements further underscore his expertise, securing the 4th spot in the DerbyCon OSINT CTF and earning a notable 3rd place in the National Child Protection Task Force Missing Persons CTF.

Joe's influence extends beyond competitions, with his insights featured in respected platforms like Forbes and Dark Reading. A published author as well, he penned the highly regarded "Practical Social Engineering," published by NoStarch Press, and innovated the OSINT tools "DECEPTICON Bot" and "WikiLeaker."
